As you drive down from the resorts, at the exit for Les Menuires, turn right before the gas station and continue up the road until you reach the end.
Head up the trail that starts on the left side of the parking lot. At the intersection, take the left turn onto the less steep grassy path. After several switchbacks, you’ll reach the trail, which you’ll follow uphill. Stay on this trail, which then levels off. At the spot known as Sur la Roche (marmots), cross a stream; after that, the path becomes a trail. A series of deciduous woods follows, then the trail crosses a trail. You can reach Les Granges by descending to the left. Continue on the flat trail. You cross a wet area using flat stones, then the trail passes through a grove of green alders. Shortly after, you’ll find an iron cross set into a rock. The view stretches from the village of Les Granges to the entrance of the Encombres Valley, including Le Châtelard and La Gittaz. After a level stretch, you reach a fork. Junction with Route 4. You can descend to the left toward Saint-Marcel.
This trail is marked with yellow signs.
