A lovely 2-day family itinerary through the mountain pastures among the marmots.

Take the whole family to explore the mountain pastures: Park at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, in the hamlet of Les Prioux, nestling in the heart of the Chavière valley. Take the opportunity to visit this pretty dry-stone village, drink a coffee on one of the terraces of the two restaurants and read the explanatory panels on how Beaufort cheese is made. Off you go! Take the path on the other side of the road and start to climb up into the cirque des Nants (a stream in local dialect). The shrubs will gradually give way to meadows. At the Chalet des Nants, take the path on the right that leads to the Lac des Tétards (Chalet Clou lake), an ideal spot for a picnic facing the Petit Mont-Blanc, with your feet in the water! After this well-deserved break, continue on to the Halles de Montaimont, a testimony to ancestral farming practices. Before the advent of electric farms, the Halles de Montaimont were used for milking cattle, sheltered from the elements. With a little discretion, admire the marmots that live here...
