A magnificent circuit for cyclists with good legs, to discover all the facets of Lac du Bourget! Put on your helmet, don't forget your water bottle, and off you go!
Quickly out of town, you find yourself on the road that runs alongside the lake. Effortlessly, you enjoy the cool spray. The water shimmers in the sunlight, and you almost envy the bathers as they splash about laughing. But what's that magnificent building you can make out on the other bank? It's Hautecombe Abbey, tomb of the Dukes of Savoy. You can see why they chose this as their final resting place. Then the route leaves the gentle shores of the lake to climb the Chambotte. This time there's no time to dawdle: you have to pedal hard. Suddenly, the sunlight disappears: you're in a tunnel... What a wonder when you emerge on the other side! Stop for a moment to enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake at the foot of the cliff. You won't regret the effort! On the way back, you'll pass by the other side of the Chambotte to enjoy the countryside, then head back down to Aix-les-Bains.
