Description

This hike will allow you to discover all the levels of the mountain between a dense coniferous forest and the open summit tundra: it's a thousand colours and a thousand summits!
It's when you enter the forest that you'll understand the benefits of hiking at altitude. Take a deep breath of these undergrowth essences and don't hesitate to caress the moist green mosses: they're said to be a source of energy! And you'll need it to reach the Dos de Crêt Voland. Up there, a vast tundra-like plateau awaits you. In autumn, the area is decked out in multicolored hues. And what a view! Don't forget your binoculars, as you'll be able to see such prestigious peaks as La Meije and La Grande Casse! And the new orientation table will come in very handy, as the number of peaks is incredible. On the way back, a few ruins of old alpine farms indicate that we're on a high grazing area. After such an ascent, it's time to put down your rucksack and take in the sights. And since you have the choice of king, all you have to do is choose your roof for the night. So, refuge du Christ or refuge de la Traye? Either way, the welcome you'll receive in this pretty alpine setting will be a comforting interlude. So take the time to enjoy your evening, and the sunshine the next day. As it's only an hour's walk back to Villard, it's time to make the most of it. For once, it's a good idea to take a break!
