Guided tour: “Being a guide, yesterday and today”

Discover the exhibition “Mont Blanc from the Val Montjoie side” by following this guided tour retracing the history of mountaineering, the ascent of Mont Blanc, and the profession of mountain guide in this valley with its strong character.

This exhibition traces the first conquests of Mont Blanc at the end of the 18th century, the first mountaineers, including some of the great figures who passed through Saint-Gervais, up to the ascent of the summit of Europe offered today by the Saint-Gervais/Les Contamines Guide Company. Through prints, old and contemporary equipment, archival documents, and contemporary works, this exhibition invites visitors to discover the ascent of Mont Blanc alongside passionate guides.
