December 1924, Arcueil, south of Paris. In his small flat, which he nicknamed his ‘closet’, Erik Satie – a well-known pianist and composer with an unusual and whimsical personality – had been suffering from persistent stomach pains for several months. On the advice of his friend Cocteau, he receives a visit from Dr Duvernay, who, amongst other facets of his personality, turns out to be the doctor to the ‘celebrities of the time’.
