Roman Church of Saint-Julien-du-Serre
Description
Historic Monument in 1906. The church first appearence was in the cartulary of the Abbey of Saint-Chaffre du Monastier, to which it was attached in the 11th century, more precisely at the time of Abbot Guillaume III (1074-1086).
Rebuilt by the monks of Saint-Chaffre during the 12th century, it consisted only of a two-bay nave with a barrel vault and a semi-circular apse, which can still be seen today. It is remarkable for its sculpted capitals, both inside and out, its monumental porch, its flying buttresses and its three-lobed window in the apse.
