La cascade de l'espissard
Description
The Rocher du fromage (the Cheese Rock) is a strange geological formation of volcanic origin at the entry of the village of Antraigues-sur-Volane, on the RD 578. This 12-metre high basaltic peak is a final witness to the height reached by lava when it flowed into the Volane valley. Water is ever present at Antraïgues, and the Espissard waterfall is just down from the Rocher du Fromage. This waterfall has carved out its bed from basalt from the Coupe d’Aizac volcano. Although
ithe cascade may not always flow generously this remains a wonderful site to admire its magnificent basalt columns
