Description

An exemplary site of terraces in Ardèche, illustrating rural architecture. The terraces, built with dry stone, retain the soil and manage rainwater.
A discovery trail, created by the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park, guides visitors through the faïsses and the irrigation system. The site is home to local works of art and a biennial community project called ‘ART en FAÏSSES’: On one side, works by local artists: • Imaginary birds made of cut and painted sheet metal - ‘Ailes et moi’ (Wings and Me) - by Séverin Millet, • Modular sculptures – double Z – by Michel Bugaud, • Bas-relief (various imprints) – ‘ILS’ sont peut être déjà venus … (They may have already come...) by Bruno D'Abrigeon On the other hand, works created with children under the guidance of renowned artists as part of the biennial ‘ART en FAÏSSES’ project project, which brings together the municipality, the Friends of Ailhon association as coordinator, the Ailhon School and the disability support association ‘Béthanie’, which is responsible for the project via the ARS and the Region. A testament to a functional ecosystem and a nourishing landscape, the site deserves respect and protection. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
