Discover the basalts around Antraïgues
Description
The lava flow at Antraïgues, from the young Aizac volcano (around 80,000 years old) known as the "Coupe d'Aizac", invaded the Mas, Bise and Volane valleys, leaving numerous traces of this eruptive period.
The promontory on which the village is built, the cheese rock at its foot, the Espissard waterfall, the cliffs near the lake...
The variety of colours and shapes is astonishing.
Volcanic stone has been used extensively in construction (faïsses or house walls) but also in anecdotal ways (sculptures in the narrow streets of antraïgues).
Along the way, you'll come across or see the béalières (agricultural irrigation channels) and the water supply channels to the old mills.
