Description

Let’s dispel some common misconceptions: you don’t need to be a top athlete or in the prime of life to enjoy climbing. With the right guidance and the right equipment, the thrill of climbing and the sensation of being high up are within everyone’s reach.

Whether you’re a beginner, a senior, someone who’s overweight, a person with a disability, getting back into sport, or a pregnant woman (…), come and climb at Le Topo! An electric-assisted motorised belay device, full-body harnesses, large-size harnesses, parking spaces, and an accessible lift: Le Topo does everything it can to welcome EVERYONE and ensure they have a great time!

Le Topo Mont-Blanc champions climbing for all: discover the measures we’ve put in place to ensure everyone can enjoy climbing, whatever their physical and/or mental abilities.

  • The Footing Vertical: a motorised, electrically-assisted climbing machine:
For older people, those who are overweight, people with disabilities, and those returning to sport (…), this innovative device developed by the Mawem brothers makes climbing accessible to as many people as possible by offering an easy and enjoyable experience, whatever the user’s background. How does it work? Just as an electric bike helps you pedal, the motorised winch helps you climb. It supports part of your weight — from 5 per cent to 95 per cent — so that you can climb at your own pace and according to your abilities.
In practical terms, the motorised winch consists of a motor and a strap. The strap attaches to the harness, whilst the motor relieves the climber of as much of their weight as they wish.
The result: even if you’ve never climbed before, or if you’re overweight, a senior citizen or have a disability, you can reach the top of the wall safely and have fun doing it!
    Tested and approved by:

  • Older people — including those over 90.

  • People with disabilities — including those with incomplete quadriplegia.

  • All body types — the motorised winch can lift climbers weighing up to 160 kg.

  • The full-body harness:
The full-body harness provides greater stability for the climber. It is designed to keep the climber in an upright position in the event of a fall and prevent them from tipping over. It also offers greater comfort as the forces are distributed evenly across the whole body (shoulders, torso, pelvis). The chest strap of the full-body harness is positioned at the sternum (rather than at the waist, as with conventional harnesses), making it a popular choice amongst pregnant women and those who are overweight.

  • The modular XXL harness:
Because equipment should not be a barrier to climbing, Le Topo offers XXL harnesses specifically designed for overweight climbers (waist circumference up to 150 cm).

  • The OHM braking assistant:
A significant weight difference between the climber and the belayer can quickly become a problem. To minimise this difference, Le Topo lends you an OHM assisted braking system that reduces the climber’s weight by 25 kg.
It’s easy to use – don’t hesitate to ask for one at reception!
