Castle of Craux
Description
It overlooks the Volane and Sandron valleys. Erected on the crater of a volcano of the same name, its geographical position offers a breathtaking panorama of the Hautes-Cévennes Ardéchoises and the land of young volcanoes.
This superb building, with its massive round towers, was once the hunting lodge of the lords of Antraigues, then later, remodelled by the d'Ucel family. This building has been classified as a Historic Monument in 1982, and stands in a lush green setting in the shade of chestnut trees.
